Getting to Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta is well connected with Indonesia's principal international gateways by air, intercity railway, airport railway, bus, taxi, and app-based transport.

International participants will most commonly enter Indonesia through:

(1) YIA — Yogyakarta International Airport
Best and easiest option if an international connection to Yogyakarta is available.

(2) CGK — Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, Jakarta
Indonesia's principal international gateway and the airport with the widest international connectivity.

(3) DPS — I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali
A convenient alternative for participants travelling through Bali.

Recommended — Simplest Route

If you can book an international itinerary that brings you directly to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), this is the easiest option.

YIA is approximately 50 km by road from the venue, The Alana Yogyakarta. Current driving time is approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic.

YIA → Airport Train → Yogyakarta Tugu Station → Taxi → The Alana

Step 1
After Immigration, baggage collection, and Customs, follow signs for the YIA Airport Train / KA Bandara.

Step 2
Take the airport train to Yogyakarta Station (Stasiun Yogyakarta/Tugu).

The current YIA Xpress operates directly between YIA and Yogyakarta Tugu Station in approximately 35–40 minutes, with a current fare of IDR 50,000 (~USD 3).

Step 3
From Yogyakarta Tugu Station, take a taxi or app-based car to The Alana. The current road distance is approximately 7 km, and the taxi journey takes roughly 10–20 minutes, depending on traffic. A conventional taxi is approximately IDR 50,000–65,000 (~USD 3-4).

Participants with substantial luggage, families, senior delegates, plenary speakers, or groups may prefer to travel directly from YIA to the hotel.

For 3–4 people sharing one vehicle, the cost difference relative to individual airport-train tickets is relatively small.

Recommended Route via Jakarta

For participants arriving internationally at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK), the easiest onward journey is usually a domestic flight:

International Flight → CGK → Domestic Flight → YIA → Airport Train/Taxi → The Alana

There are multiple daily nonstop flights between Jakarta and Yogyakarta.

Current flight time is approximately 1 hour 10–15 minutes. Current one-way economy fares vary substantially, but approximately IDR 770,000–1,200,000+ is a realistic current range depending on airline, date, baggage and booking time.

After arriving at YIA:

Budget/fast option YIA → Airport Train → Tugu → Taxi → The Alana

or

Convenient option YIA → Direct taxi → The Alana.

Allow sufficient connection time at CGK

International passengers must complete applicable Immigration → baggage collection → Customs → terminal transfer/check-in → domestic security

before their domestic flight.

Do not book a very tight self-transfer between separate international and domestic tickets.

Recommended Scenic Alternative

Participants wishing to experience Java by railway can travel

CGK Airport → Gambir Station → Yogyakarta Tugu Station → The Alana

This is a comfortable alternative if you have sufficient time and particularly attractive for participants arriving in Jakarta one day before travelling to Yogyakarta.

Step 1 — CGK → Gambir Railway Station

Take an official taxi/app-based car or airport bus.

Taxi: approximately 30–60 minutes under normal conditions, but considerably longer during Jakarta peak traffic. Current taxi estimates are approximately IDR 200,000–280,000 (~USD 11-16)

Alternatively, airport buses connect CGK with central Jakarta. Current airport-bus fares are around IDR 80,000 (~USD 4), depending on service.

Step 2 — Gambir → Yogyakarta Tugu

Several long-distance trains operate between Jakarta and Yogyakarta.

Typical journey approximately 6–8 hours

Current executive-class fares commonly fall around IDR 450,000–750,000 (~USD 25-42), depending on train, class, demand, and booking date. Book through KAI — Indonesia's national railway operator or the official Access by KAI application.

Step 3 — Tugu Station → The Alana

Taxi/app-based car approximately 10–20 minutes, approximately IDR 50,000–65,000 (~USD 3-4)

Economy Overland Option

Long-distance buses operate between the Jakarta region and Yogyakarta. Depending on departure point, traffic, operator, and service class, allow approximately 10–14 hours.

Bus fares vary considerably by operator and class. Premium/executive services can cost several hundred thousand rupiah; peak-season prices can be significantly higher.

Participants arriving at CGK must first reach the appropriate bus terminal or operator pickup point. After arriving in Yogyakarta, take a taxi/app-based car to The Alana.

Recommended for Budget-conscious travellers familiar with Indonesian overland travel

ACH recommendation

For first-time international visitors, we recommend flight or railway rather than long-distance bus, because Jakarta–Yogyakarta bus journey times are highly dependent on traffic.

Participants combining ACH with travel in Bali can enter Indonesia through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) and continue by domestic flight to Yogyakarta.

Flight time is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes–1 hour 50 minutes. Current services include nonstop flights by Garuda Indonesia and Super Air Jet. Air fares can be around IDR 2 million (~USD 110) one way, although actual fares vary significantly according to airline, date, and availability.

After arrival at YIA:

Important Travel Advice

Yogyakarta International Airport code is YIA. Do not confuse it with JOG (Adisutjipto Airport) when searching for flights.

Jakarta road traffic can be severe. Travel between CGK and central Jakarta can take substantially longer during peak periods; airport guidance notes that some journeys may exceed two hours in heavy traffic.

For long-distance railway travel, advance booking is strongly recommended, particularly around weekends and holiday periods.

To make arrival in Yogyakarta easier for international and domestic participants, ACH 2027 will arrange selected transportation services on 25 August 2027, one day before the Congress begins.

These services are available only to participants who reserve them in advance through the official ACH 2027 booking system. Services will be scheduled according to confirmed reservations, arrival times, and operational requirements.

Advance Reservation Required: These services will not operate as unrestricted public shuttle services. Transport capacity and schedules will be determined from reservations received through the ACH booking system. Participants who require ACH transportation should therefore reserve their transfer before the announced deadline and provide accurate flight/train and contact information.

Platinum Package: Registered Platinum Package participants already receive return YIA airport transfers as part of their package and do not need to purchase the standard YIA transfer separately. They must, however, provide their arrival and departure details through the ACH booking system so that transfers can be scheduled.

ACH will arrange scheduled shuttle-bus transfers from Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) to The Alana Yogyakarta Hotel & Convention Center and designated official ACH hotels. Participants must provide their flight and arrival details through the booking system in advance.

Participants arriving through Jakarta may reserve an ACH-assisted intercity train journey from Gambir Station, Jakarta, to Yogyakarta Tugu Station. Train reservations will be arranged according to availability and the travel option selected through the ACH booking system.

For participants arriving by the ACH-arranged Gambir–Yogyakarta train service, or other eligible participants who use YIA Airport Train to Yogyakarta Tugu Station, reserve the service in advance; ACH will arrange shuttle transportation from Yogyakarta Tugu Station to The Alana and designated official ACH hotels.
